Hello All,

Box contents first this week. I like to mix it up occasionally. Last week on Tuesday evening we met up with Julie Arnold. Julie is the farmer with Shepherd Moon Farm. We talked about their growing practices and what they want to see for their farm. We thought we would offer up our farm as a host site. Julie is generous with what goes into their boxes and they have weekly and bi-weekly options. You are welcome to inquire with Julie after any specific details you might have. Please see our farm store for their contact info and their website. You can also shop the farm store for freezer greens, pesto shares, and garlic shares. I have fall shares listed as well on our farm store, but Andrew and I haven’t discussed what that would look like. We do know that from afar the winter squash crop is looking really nice! Things can change when you look too closely!

Also last week, Andrew was offered a job working at Park Tool as an Assembly and Production Technician. He will be building bikes, wheels and who knows what else! This job will mean that the farm functions a little differently here on out, but hopefully we will feel more financially secure and have a little more wiggle room as far as what we grow for sale. We can’t discontinue farming because the farm is financed through the USDA Farm Service Agency.

Since the weather is changing towards a more Autumnal feel I thought a basic casserole recipe would be nice to include. If you’re Minnesotan, it’s a hot dish :)

Last week I also tried out a cucumber miso salad. If you have zucchini that could be added to the cucumber recipe.

For something fun with our morning breakfast we tried making potato waffles, we didn’t do any research so ours didn’t turn out this nicely.

Additionally, steamed broccoli with your favorite seasoning (cheese counts as seasoning, right?) makes nice addition to any meal. And our favorite stand by for cabbage, besides grilling it, is slaw.

We hope you enjoy beautiful box 6, and if you need any recipe suggestions-let us know! Happy almost back to school and the end of summer.

All the best,

Margaret and Andrew
